Climate Resilient Water

The Faculty of Science (SENV) is a key partner in the newly successful $22.4M ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Climate Resilient Water. Led by Professor Steve Kenway, the Centre will be working at the intersection of interdisciplinary science and industry priority.

About this project

The Centre is part of the ARC’s Industrial Transformation Research Program, designed to foster collaboration between university-based researchers and industry partners. It focuses on developing new technologies and social transformations to address critical water security challenges. By bringing together multiple sciences, the Centre aims to impact national strategies, policy, and innovative thought.

Our approach

The Centre utilises an industry-engaged process that integrates advanced monitoring, adaptive management, and multi-functional precinct design. A core component of the approach is the creation of new collaborative governance models and the development of a legacy Knowledge and Training Bank to ensure long-term impact. This aligns with a commitment to interdisciplinary discovery and applied research.

Research That Makes a Difference

We explore how people connect with the environment from urban green spaces to ocean reefs, and develop strategies to promote conservation stewardship and meaningful engagement with the natural world. Through citizen science, community partnerships, and innovative communication strategies, we’re working to strengthen the connections between people and nature for lasting conservation impact.
